Tokyo, Japan

Strongly identified as the capital of an Asian nation given the moniker “land of the rising sun,” Tokyo, Japan is also the biggest metropolis in the country. The region is composed of 26 cities, 23 wards, 8 villages and 5 towns which include the islands of Izu and Ogasawara located in the coastal Pacific. At this present, Tokyo is home to roughly twelve million residents adding to the growing population to the whole of Japan.

Before the year 1868, Tokyo, Japan was identified by the name “Edo” which was a little castle around the sixteenth century. When Shogun Tokugawa Leyasu instituted his feudalistic authority, the old appellation of Tokyo became the center of politics in Japan. After how many decades, the region expanded in areas such as economy, business, technology and tourism, among the others, which was later heralded as the most densely inhabited all over the globe.

Upon the restoration of the Meiji Dynasty, the headquarters of the emperor was transferred from Kyoto to Edo. With the milestones in Tokyo, Japan came major catastrophes. In 1923, there was the Great Kanto, an earthquake that damaged major portions in the metropolis. By 1945, there were attacks made by the Americans using their B- 29 Superfortress bomber planes with the objective of turning the region into a blazing inferno.

Similar to the neighboring Osaka, Tokyo, Japan has already been premeditated to revolve around highly- advanced railway stations. When compared to the one in Los Angeles, California, you cannot help but see the difference as they only have the low density vehicle centric. Not long after, there was the construction of subway networks as there were more people who migrated to the region making Tokyo as one of the busiest districts in the entire of Japan.

Little to the knowledge of everybody, Tokyo, Japan has its own share of humble beginnings as a quaint fishing community. By 1603, the region was selected to be the new base of Tokugawa and flourished as virtually nothing to one of the world’s most renowned destinations. In 1885, the period was the year where Yamonote Line took full responsibility in handling the traffic dilemmas which the company was able to facilitate with much ease.

Amidst the many calamities that the metropolis was able to go through, their current status is a testimony of resiliency. As you visit around, you will not fail to miss the skyscraping buildings in every corner of the region with bustling streets flocked by individuals used to the fast- paced lifestyle in the urban jungle.
